Title of Systematic Narrative
Review
Does co-production impact upon
adult co-researchers and service
users' experiences who suffer from
mental illness?
Abstract
Context:
The context of this assignment is assessing how the inclusion of co-production
affects the adult suffering from mental illness. It includes their package of care
from the beginning to the end of their journey and sustained progress.
Methods employed in the review:
The search strategy took the form of locating studies from four library
databases;
• Assia;
• PsycInfo;
• Social Care on Line; and,
• Medline.
It included a wide range of concept terms for each database and the use
Boolean algebra.
Following the initial number of hits the hits were manually accessed via
reading the abstracts to see if they were relevant to the question, service
users' perspectives of participatory research methods. If not, they were
disregarded. The reading of the abstracts was very rigorous and in-depth so a
manageable number remained.
The relevant hits are as follows:
• PsycInfo 6
• Social care on line 6
• ASSIA 5
• Medline 4
When the duplicates numbering 8 were removed total of 13 articles formed
the final review.
Quality appraisal was undertaken under guidance offered by Taylor et al
(2015).
The four following themes were addressed in the synthesis:
• Being treated as equals;
