Social Care Future: Valuing the role of the charity sector in social care
research: a free online event on 21/07/2022
On behalf of The National Institute for Health Research's Research Design Service, Lancaster
University.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the vital role that the charity sector plays in the
delivery of health and social care services, especially for seldom heard communities, and in
supporting people to live well. We would be delighted if you would join us for an online learning
event, focused on social care, to discuss how the research community and charities can work
together to address the needs of carers and improve the lives of people who draw on social
care services.

Valuing the role of the charity sector in social care research
Join us online on 21st
July 2022 from 10am-12.30pm to discuss how the research community
can better support charities to engage in social care research and influence the research
agenda.
Hosted by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Design Service West
Midlands, Research Design Service North West and BVSC Research, this event will address
barriers to the charity sector's engagement in research, and how the sector can help drive
evidence-based practice in social care.
This event will build on two earlier events that explored the experiences of local voluntary and
community sector organisations working across the West Midlands and North West. We will
share the important findings from these events to inform our discussions, helping us to
understand the similarities and differences facing smaller voluntary sector organisations and
larger charities.
