Attitudes:
Disrespect from Society- the assumption that you work in social
care because of a lack of intelligence and other options.
Treated like a servant not a human being with feelings.
Constantly being undermined. Rudeness from families.
Domiciliary care workers are looked down on by everyone that
includes nurses and higher management. We don't have the
brains to make our own health and safety judgments … I despise
my job because I am treated with disdain.
Even district nurses can be guilty of treating us with disdain and
make us feel as if we know nothing, often leaving their rubbish for
the care worker to clean up. This is unfair and can make care
workers feel worthless and their efforts unappreciated.
