In formally opening the event and extending a warm welcome to delegate
Ciara McKillop. Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and performance
Group briefly plotted her own learning and development journey. Having
completed the Masters Course at Ulster University, the seed was firmly
sown for exploring practice issues through research. The journey which
culminated, after huge commitment and dedication, in the conferral of a
PhD Award.
Academic research awards are prestigious awards for the social work
profession and are all important, particularly with direct connection of
research to practice issues.
It was great to hear of the diverse pieces of research undertaken and
actually similarities in emerging themes across the various organisations.
Research is what propels us forward,
fuelled by curiosity: we get curious,
ask questions, and immerse ourselves
in discovering everything there is to
know. Learning is thriving
