10th Annual Social Work and Social Care Research Conference March 2023
Our research conference continues to offer a forum that connects policy; practice,
academia, learning and development; and service users and carers. Now in its tenth
year, this year was no exception. The theme for this year was:
Research and Evidence for Navigating a Change
Environment: Reflections on last decade
Introducing the event, Anne McGlade Social Care explained that whilst, Covid 19 did not
disrupt the continuity of hosting our Lead Attended by over 120 people, this was an
invigorating conference where researchers, academics, practitioners and those with
lived experiences came together as key note speakers, small group presenters and
poster presenters to share the work that they are engaged.
It was really inspiring and motivating to hear about all the good work that is going on
and the willingness of researchers, academic practitioners, service users and carer
advocates always needs to be acknowledged. The impact of research evidence only
becomes a reality when it is shared and openly discussed with others. The
conversations in the small breakout rooms are testimony of this and, when time did not
permit, connections were made for individual follow-up.
Lisburn Uks
Lisburn Uks were one of our interludes and
provided an amazing performance which
cheered everyone who attended our
conference. Lisburn Uks is a registered
charity group with members across
Northern Ireland that meet to play music.
